Creative Corrections has been awarded a new contract with the Department of Homeland Security(DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Office of Detention Oversight (ODO).  Work on this contract will assist the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) as an independent review mechanism to provide compliance oversight of the management and operation of ICE detention facilities, and to investigate allegations of mistreatment and non-compliance of ICE detention standards within the Detention setting.

Creative Corrections and the University of Wisconsin Law School, Frank J. Remington Center (FJRC), have agreed that FJRC will assist with training, research, curricular development and other relevant support on current and future projects that they mutually agree to pursue.

The FJRC was founded forty years ago to provide students with a “learning center” in the area of criminal justice. The Center provides law students with the opportunity to develop the substantive knowledge, professional skills, and judgment necessary to excel as attorneys; provides high-quality service in individual cases; and engages in empirical research necessary to bring about systemic improvements. Today the Center includes civil as well as criminal projects.

The Center will also provide research-related resources via the University of Wisconsin’s network of academic and library resources. This MOU is the culmination of a twenty year relationship that began while Percy Pitzer was warden at the Federal Correctional Institution, Oxford, Wisconsin.

In addition to its current contracts with the Office of the Federal Detention Trustee, a task order was issued for Creative Corrections to provide construction design, build, and monitoring of a private facility in Pahrump, Nevada, which is expected to house federal detainees.  Creative Corrections was also awarded a one year extension to the current contract with the Oklahoma County Detention Center, which provides expert guidance to the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Department with its attempt to resolve documented Civil Rights concerns as determined by the United States Department of Justice.
